Long & winding road!

June 8, 2012

5am the belfry was still as black as night as I tripped over back packs to get to the washroom. Now I knew why bats can c in the dark! Rucksack packed me & my Thursday chums head of for St Jean de Ortega some 40 km away. 6km had past & we were fading fast as no villages opened for breakfast. A big cheer went up when we finally found chairs outside an albergue. But two pieces of tortillas inside didn’t quite go with the invasion of a dozen outside so we left still hungry πŸ™‚ Susanne & I soon chumped up the kms sorting out each others love lives or lack of them. Her hope was for camino love… Love wasn’t on my agenda at that second as my quasi moto blister exploded into a flood in my shoe! My sock was soaking, my skin raw & my shoe rubbing so love would have to wait till I at least rummaged for a dry pair of socks πŸ™‚ nic now joined us on our trek. At the next village susannes feet giving her jip called it a day but I was pushing on. Nic joined me which was lucky as it was 14 further km of flat forest. Alone it would have been so tedious. Struggling to the 40 th km we crawled into the albergue in st jean de ortega but crawled straight out on viewing the vile dirty state of the beds & bathrooms …. but leaving behind our euros for our trouble. πŸ™‚ 4 more km I wasn’t sure if my left foot could cope but no other option was available so we struggled to Ages! But what a treat! the cleanest albergue I’ve seen. Met by buddah & incense & crystals I thought I’d died & gone to heaven! So here I am in my feng Sui attic room on the floor once again… But I cant wait to curl up in my cute bed πŸ™‚ today I’ve now done 160 miles I’m knackered & my foot is once again the talk of another albergue. But me & buddah r ok he’s sitting smiling at me & I’m still smiling back πŸ™‚ Buen camino! Xxx!
