Breaking bread :-)

June 3, 2012

Eating has become such an exciting adventure… Not for the variety of foods, but for the companions I share it with. Yesterday I had coffee & croissant with a French seasoned caminoite who lived in the alps. Leaving her I felt less inclined to complain to myself about the weight of my rucksack. Her larger osprey contained a cooker as she would have a siesta & cook in the forests on her route. Lunch I broke bread & cheese with a polish girl living in London on route to Asia. We shared shade under a mountaintop tree from the 30 degree heat. warm cheese & hot water going un- noticed with our chat. The day was rounded off by an invitation from three germans & one Dutch from my alberge to join them for dinner. A four course pilgrims meal of soup, pasta, vegetables meat, fruit & red wine was shared amicably with their broken English & my absent german. The total cost of today’s food 17 euro … The company priceless. 🙂 Oh & let’s not forget my banana eaten solo lying in a poppy field in the Basque region 🙂 food is such fun 🙂 xx
